What is AniKehai?
AniKehai is a free, open-source browser extension that shows the anime you're watching as a Discord Rich Presence: the title, episode, cover art and a live progress bar. It runs entirely in your browser on Firefox, Chrome and other Chromium browsers, and on Android, so there's no desktop app to keep open.
The name comes from 気配 (kehai), Japanese for a presence or the sense that someone is there. About the project.
How it works
- 1
Install the extension
Add it to Firefox in one click, or load the release ZIP in a Chromium browser or Kiwi on Android.
- 2
Link your Discord account
Press “Link with Discord” in the popup and approve the request on Discord's own authorization page.
- 3
Watch anime
Open an episode on a supported site. AniKehai reads the title and episode and updates your Rich Presence, including progress and pauses.
What the AniKehai Discord extension does
Everything runs in your browser, and you decide what Discord shows.
Live progress
Watching / Paused states, elapsed time and time remaining using Discord timestamps.
Real cover art
Pulls high-quality covers, with an AniList fallback for sites that protect their assets.
Zero overhead
Lives entirely in your browser. No Electron app, no background middleware.
Works on mobile
Runs on Android browsers with extension support, with a custom mobile sign-in flow.
Privacy toggle
Hides which anime you watch. Discord only shows 'Anime — Private Session'.
Broadcast toggle
Switch broadcasting off from the popup without ever logging out of Discord.

Do I need a desktop app running?
No. Since v2, AniKehai is fully standalone. The extension signs in with Discord OAuth2 and talks to Discord's gateway over WebSockets straight from your browser — no Electron app or middleware.
How do I link my Discord account?
Open the extension popup from your toolbar and click “Link with Discord”. You'll be sent to Discord's own authorization page to approve it.
Can I hide my activity without logging out?
Yes. The popup has a privacy toggle that pauses broadcasting instantly while keeping your Discord account linked.
It's not showing anything on my profile.
Make sure the popup says you're connected, you're on a supported site with an episode playing, and Discord's “Share your activity” setting is on. Still stuck? Ask in our Discord server or open a GitHub issue.
My favourite site isn't supported.
Open a site request on GitHub, or add it yourself — each site is a small scraper strategy and the contributing guide walks you through it.
Why isn't it on the Chrome Web Store?
Not yet. Until then, Chrome installs via “Load unpacked” using the release ZIP. Firefox users get the normal store install.
Is AniKehai free and open source?
Yes. AniKehai is free to use and its source code is published on GitHub under the MIT license.
Which browsers and devices does AniKehai support?
Firefox on desktop and Android, Chromium browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi, and Android browsers that support extensions, like Kiwi. Safari and iOS are not supported.
Does AniKehai work on Android?
Yes. Install it from Firefox Add-ons in Firefox for Android, or sideload the release ZIP in Kiwi or Lemur Browser. Chrome for Android can't run extensions.
